Clinical & Neuropsych Evals

Psychodiagnostic and neuropsychological assessments allow individuals and families to understand how to best use cognitive, intellectual, and emotional abilities and strengths to compensate for areas of relative weakness.

Neuropsychological testing is the assessment of brain-based functioning. Just like an MRI or CT scan of the brain evaluates structural integrity, neurocognitive functional abilities assessed via pencil and paper or on a computer can reliably and accurately examine the underlying function or these neuroanatomical areas.

Domains assessed often include:

  • Learning
  • Memory
  • Language
  • Attentional and Executive function abilities
  • Visuospatial skills
  • Motor abilities.

Some of the conditions we have experience with include:

  • Memory-related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia
  • Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD),
  • Speech and Language disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Dyspraxia

Consulting & Speaking

As a former prosecutor, forensic psychologist, behavioral health leader, teacher, and researcher of why humans behave that way, Dr. Beattey has seen a lot. And learned a few things along the way. He is also a compelling speaker and messenger.

Whether consulting with stakeholders to share ways to improve decision making and service delivery or speaking to groups about lessons learned, Dr. Beattey approaches these engagements with a sense of humor and a simple question: “How can I help?”

Clinical Ethics

Clinical and biomedical ethical considerations often evade simple black and white decisions. One of the hallmarks of good clinical ethical decision making, however, is consultation with colleagues and specialists in the field.

As the author of a book on clinical ethics and a practicing clinician, Dr. Beattey looks forward to consulting with clleagues to help navigate thorny situations and can sometimes provide additional clinical assessment to help understand the relevant clinical picture.
